Independent, Open Enterprise Data Integration

چکیده
Database researchers and practitioners have long espoused the virtues of data independence. When logical and physical representations of data are separated, and when multiple users can see different views of data, then the flexibility of usage, evolution, and performance of a database system is maximized. This tenet has been lost in the marketing crush of Data Warehousing, which prescribes a tight coupling of physical representation and high-level usability. In this paper we describe the Cohera Federated DBMS, which reintroduces data independence to the heterogeneous databases present in today’s enterprises. Cohera’s physical independence features provide a scalable spectrum of solutions for physical design of enterprise-wide data. Its logical independence features remove the distinction between data transformation and querying, by using industry-standard SQL99 as a unified open conversion framework.

The technology of Enterprise Application Integration could be applied for the interoperation among distributed heterogeneous systems. This paper presents the application integration framework for data exchange and business interaction based on Service Component Architecture, Message Oriented Middleware and Enterprise Service Bus. Furthermore, it introduces the implementation of the framework us...
متن کاملLean Integration Using Open Source Based Infrastructure and an Integration Competency Center Approach
In this paper a set of successful Enterprise Application Integration projects are analyzed and common characteristics are identified. These characteristics are then distilled into a set of key success factors. The empirical foundation for this study is the active participation in a number of successful EAI projects, as a consequence thereof we classify the research method as action research. We...
متن کاملImplementing Enterprise Integration Patterns Using Open Source Frameworks
Enterprise Application Integration is needed in many organisations to improve the functionality of their IT systems and offer new business functions to end-users without implementing and deploying new applications. With growing complexity of the IT infrastructure and the pressure to bring new features in ever shorter time, application integration became a challenging task. One approach for inte...
متن کاملEnterprise integration and interoperability in manufacturing systems: Trends and issues
Recent advances in information and communication technologies have allowed manufacturing enterprise to move from highly data-driven environments to a more cooperative information/knowledge-driven environment. Enterprise knowledge sharing (know-how), common best practices use, and open source/web based applications are enabling to achieve the concept of integrated enterprise and hence the implem...
متن کاملPatterns for emerging application integration scenarios: A survey
The discipline of enterprise application integration (EAI) enables the decoupled communication between (business) applications, and thus became a cornerstone of today’s IT architectures. In 2004, the book by Hohpe and Woolf on Enterprise Integration Patterns (EIP) provided a fundamental collection of messaging patterns, denoting the building blocks of many EAI system implementations. Since then...
